PARENTS AS PARTNERS IN STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

Our students will receive grades each six weeks.  However, parents will be given weekly progress reports regarding academic achievement and conduct.  Each teacher sends this report out a different day of the week.  Many of our teachers send this report on Monday.  Please watch for it and sign it, if necessary.  Each three weeks, you will be notified if your child is failing in a particular area.  Your child will have the remainder of the semester to bring the grade up.  If however, your child continues to perform poorly in a particular area., we will provide you and your child with a special workshop.  This workshop will be open to all parents.  However, they will be mandatory for students who are failing.  As you know, in two years, and student in third of fifth grade who does not pass the CRCT test will be retained.  We take this very seriously.  Student achievement is most important at Key Elementary.  You will be receiving a notice outlining the steps we will take at school if your child is at risk of failing in any area.  Please sign the notice.  In the notice, you will be stating that you are in agreement of keeping you child after school for additional help.  If this strategy proves unsuccessful, you will agree to attend workshops with your child.  While this presents additional work and planning for our staff we are committed to producing successful, happy students.  We know that you too, are committed to your child's success in school.  We look forward to a working partnership with you this year.
