The Computer Lab has 29 computers in it.
The computers are PC's (IBM compatible).
|
| The Lab is set up for several different
areas of instruction. These areas are; Orchard,
Mighty Math, and Production. |
| All grade levels come to the Lab. |
| All grade levels use Orchard.
Orchard is a group of Skill Trees. The skills we purchased are in Math
and Language Arts. First through fifth grades are required to come.
Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten come to the Lab after the first six weeks
grading period. They use the lab to help support reading and math
learned in the classroom. Pre-K, Kindergarten come in when they have time
and when space is available. The different Skill
Trees are specifically for the grade level indicated. We do use all
Skill Trees that are appropriate for the students who need them regardless of
grade level. |
|
| Mighty
Math is a group of math programs created by Harcourt, Brace, and Jonavitch (HBJ).
These came with the district's Math Adoption. Included in these programs
are Zoo Zillions, Carnival Countdown, Calculating Crew, and Number Heroes. For
more on these programs click here. |
|
| Production
is when the students come into the lab and create slide shows, write stories
or reports, create graphs using Graph Club or a spreadsheet program, and other
items using technology. To see all the different types of items done click
here. |
|
| The teachers work close with the Lab Manager
to ensure the items they are teaching in the classroom is supported in
the lab. Several teachers use the scores the students obtain in the
lab as a part of their report card grade. |
|
|
We also give rewards for doing good work
in the lab. Students who make 90% or more receive a sticker. First
and Second grade students receive a pencil or an eraser for every 5 stickers.
Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade students receive a pencil or an eraser for
every 10 stickers.
