Welcome to Key Elementary! Key Elementary has a
faculty and staff that is highly qualified and most dedicated.
Most of our staff members have been with us for 10 years or more.
Our staff members are part of a big family and our calling is to serve
the boys and girls in this neighborhood. Over half the staff has
Masters Degrees and one member has her Doctorate Degree. All of
our teachers have had InTech training and they integrate technology in
their classrooms with great ease. Key Elementary has an
outstanding program for our hearing impaired students. The
presence of these students and teachers enhanced our total school
program. Key is a school with site based management, This
means that the staff members on the leadership team are the real
governing body at the school.
Our PTA provides students with incentives and rewards for
excellence. They support programs involving the arts and
humanities. In addition to cultural awareness, our PTA promotes
environmental responsibility. We have historically won a position
in the telephone recycling contest that is held yearly. Our
students make trips to Oxbow Meadows and we enjoy guest speakers and
presenters from Oxbow who bring interesting lessons about science and
our environment. Start saving your phone books now!
Mediacom is our Partner in Education. They sponsor special
events for our children and at times, they bring them treats and
surprises.
Students from CSU work closely with our staff to provide additional
learning experiences for our students. They work with them in
small groups and they bring new ideas for all of us to share. We
usually have about 20 CSU students in the building each semester.
They add energy, new perspectives, and an extra pair of hands. We
welcome our CSU partners.
This year we have set a goal for parent/community volunteer hours
spent working with our boys and girls. By the end of the school
year, we plan to record 500 or more hours of parent/community
involvement in our school. Wouldn't you like to be a part of this
statistic? You can. We need every single parent to become
involved in an activity of their choice. Some parents like to work
in the Media Center, shelving books and helping students check out
books. Some would rather come one hour twice a week and listen to
"budding" readers. Some are even happy to monitor in the
lunchroom and at breakfast. Suit yourself! WE WANT
YOU!!!!!! Come to school and let us know what you like
doing. We will be more than happy to match what you like with the
perfect activity at Key. Give us a chance to show you how
rewarding and fun it is to be in school! By helping our, you will
get to know our wonderful staff and your child will see this is the
place to be. Please stop by the office at your earliest
convenience and let us know what you can do.
Sincerely,
Donna Hart, Principal
